Linda and Dan's Soft and Romantic Wedding at Hummingbird Nest Ranch

When I saw that an old co worker turned boss lady friend of mine had recently got engaged, I jumped at the chance to be a part of what I knew would be an epic wedding day. Linda and I had worked together in our previous lives in retail. She’s been a huge inspiration to me ever since. I distinctly remember when Linda was consulting, and I was a mere assistant, and she told me about how she was working on developing a skin care line. I remember thinking how cool it was that she was working on creating a product and a brand. Fast forward several years, and Linda is the CEO of the hugely successful Karuna skin care brand carried in major retailers like Sephora, Ulta, and Anthropologie. Her passion and success has been a huge inspiration for me as an entrepreneur. Ever since I have known her she has been this fierce, confident, stylish woman. I was thrilled to partner with her on bringing her and fiance Dan’s wedding day together.

Linda had a clear vision of what her and Dan wanted their wedding to look and feel like. Feminine colors and textures with a classic feel, excellent food and drinks, and laughter filling the room among close family and friends.

Set in a cobblestone courtyard with old wood doors, and exposed brick, Hummingbird Nest Ranch resembles more of an Italian Villa than a ranch set in the hillside of Santa Susana, California. It was the perfect setting for Linda and Dan’s romantic, sophisticated wedding.

La Piñata Party draped the ceremony with crystals beads and soft chiffon swagging in the trees. They hung market lights and chandeliers in the courtyard creating a warm glow for the dinner reception. Foxglove Los Angeles set the exposed wood tables with lush eucalyptus garlands, and pretty blush centerpieces for the white linen rounds. We kept the feminine look going with pink carousel wine glasses, ornate tumblers, and added a bit of a modern touch with gold flatware, and gold rimmed dinner and salad plates all from La Piñata.

Jessica and Devin's Industrial Rustic Wedding at Smoky Hollow Studios

In celebration of their one year anniversary, I’m sharing a look at Jessica and Devin’s wedding at Smoky Hollow Studios, photographed by Rachel Stelter Photography.

Jessica and Devin met in graduate school in Ithaca, traveled together to New York, and eventually made their way to the west coast where they settled with their pup, Rafi.  Jessica and Devin love their town of El Segundo and it was important for them to use local vendors in planning their wedding.  Smokyhollow Studios is just down the road from their home and fit the warm, rustic, industrial look they were going for.  They exchanged their vows under a canopy of eucalyptus with their dog, Rafi looking on, dressed up in his very best bow-tie.

Family and friends traveled to the golden coast to celebrate Jessica and Devin and enjoyed casual eats from Border Grille and Peaches food trucks, with cold beers from El Segundo's local brewery's.  The details were minimal, and intentional.  With personalized coasters at each place setting made by the bride, framed photos of the couple, and lyrics from their favorite song "And I will love with urgency, but not with haste," written above the sweetheart table.

Highlights from 2017!

As this year comes to a close, I thought I'd share some of my favorite photos and moments from our weddings in 2017.  We've been blessed to work with such amazing couples and vendors this year and are excited for the new faces we will see in 2018!  I want to give a special shoutout to the #1 hardest working assistant, my mom, Joann.  She is the one lining up our wedding party and making sure every detail is set up to perfection on wedding days.  Thank you for your hard work Joann!

Personally and professionally this has been a year for growth and learning.  I have met some incredibly inspiring professionals through events and through community groups like the Rising Tide Society.  We are always learning and growing as professionals, but I think even more as entrepreneurs.  Having the support of a community of creatives is priceless.  I am inspired so much by the creative professionals I have met and am very grateful for the relationships we've built.  This job is amazing!  I love every part of it and am so thankful that I get to do this work.

Cheers to a new year full of more high fives, smiles, and belly laughs

Happy New Year!
